A new home for animal care is here...
We officially opened our doors on July 15th, 2025, and we’re excited to welcome you and your pets. After months of hard work, including transforming what was once a sweet shop and a knitting store into
a fully equipped veterinary practice - we’re proud to be ready
and open for appointments.
It’s been a challenging but rewarding journey, and we’re thrilled to be here at last. Whether you're looking to register or simply stop by to meet the team, we look forward to seeing you soon.

We’re independent! This means everything to us. We became vets to treat sick animals and to try to prevent healthy animals from getting sick. We hope and believe that, by establishing our own practice, we’ll be able to fulfil this ambition. Every animal is different, and we hope to be able to treat each animal according to its needs. We’ve designed the clinic mindful, first and foremost, of the animals; and we’ve tried to make it as comfortable as possible for them. They are, needless to say, the ones who matter. It’s pretty simple. We’re here to do our best for them.
There are two of us: Henry Sheen and Lisa Paterson, with a combined 40 years’ experience in veterinary practice. We both consider ourselves general practitioners with wide experience of most species. We’re the directors, but frankly, we are just vets, having qualified from Edinburgh years ago. We’ve worked in the Northeast most of our careers, so we’ll be familiar faces to any number of clients in the area. Lisa’s grandfather was a vet in Durham, so she has a very long-established veterinary lineage in the region. Henry has nothing of the sort, but he takes his inspiration from Cuthbert, the great Northern Saint, whose feet used to be washed by the otters as he emerged from another freezing night spent in the North Sea. Henry does not spend his nights in the North Sea, but loves the fish and the fowl which live in and around it

The surgery is one area which we are keen to develop. The recent trend has been to refer cases for the type of surgery which was once routinely carried out in general practice. While there are any number of cases where the expertise and the diagnostic equipment of referral centres is required to achieve a successful outcome, we may be able to offer an alternative in a lot of cases. Such surgeries include BOAS surgery, anal sacculectomies, basic (easy!) orthopaedics and many others. If unsure, please ask.
The surgery is situated on Front Street in Langley Park, next to the library. There is no parking belonging to the surgery, but there are plenty of places to park your car in the immediate area. There are no parking meters. We would ask that animals are quiet (the library is next door) and that any mess is cleaned up immediately (please let reception know if there are any difficulties).
